Professional info

 

I recently moved to Hong Kong to further my career in Aerial Arts and teaching, gaining a position within the company Aerial Arts Academy.  In the past I lived in Kuala Lumpur,  Malaysia for two years  to join the company Viva Vertical. Through this company I  gained knowledge and achieved better training in Aerial Arts. I believe it is important to travel and to absorb as much information as possible, as this is what can help you with your performance and personal development. 

 

As a Child, I performed gymnastics and was also a national swimmer, holding National and County records. 

 In 2012, I decided  to take  Trapeze and dancing classes. I attended Greentop Circus School in Sheffield, for this training. Later, in that year, I started performing Aerial Dance and Fire Dance, with the Steelcats.

  The Steelcats are resident performers at FUEL nightclub and also perform around England. 

 

 I decided that I would like this to be my profession and to dedicate my entire time to this. I moved  to Malaysia in 2014 to develop my skills and training. Here, I  joined a group called Viva CIrcus. i am currently training under their expert guidance,  acquiring new skills that are helping me to achieve more professional performances. Whilst training here, I was also able to travel to Phuket, Thailand and take a few lessons in Flying Trapeze, Silk and Cube. I believe that travel is important. It enables me to observe and learn other peoples skills, and apply  this into my own performances.

 

I am mainly self-taught on the trapeze and aerial hoop. I have been taught aerial Silk and Pole with Samantha Yee Mer through Viva Circus. The trapeze routines I perform are usually my own choreography, where as my silk and hoop performances have been choreographed by Samantha Yee Mer. 

 

Whilst I lived in Malaysia, I also was dancing with a group called Black Rose. Performing mainly fusion dance routines. I also perform Samba for local events and launches and contemporary and burlesque dancing with Viva Circus .

Conducting an aerial trapeze workshop for all ages for one hour. Teaching the basic fundamentals to beginners and challenging more intermediate students with harder moves and transitions.

   Performing a 3 min open air routine on the aerial dance Trapeze as appart of Medan Circus Art.

July 29th-August 8th

Teaching Aerial Trapeze and Strap workshops lasting an hour and a half each every day. I would have a group of around 12-14 people for each class, leading the warmup and conducting the class safely.

I was in charge of a team of 20-30 within the Venue and 50+ for outside events. 

  I was able to work proficiently as a team leader, handle cash and keep the books with compentence. Also in this role I would often be left in charge of repping gigs within the venue. This included such duties as; looking after the bands, scheduling performance times, ticket collecting and ticket balancing, organising their security. 

  I would be in charge of the 1000+ capacity venue and all staff on duty. Holding a certificate in First Aid and CPR.
